Our busiest season is upon us, and the pace at the shelter is hectic. By the end of May, we had already received more than 900 injured and orphaned mammals, birds and reptiles. In the midst of this busy period, our board has made some changes.
Martha Kudlacik resigned as President in April, and she remains active as Treasurer. As a result, Sandra Skolnik was voted into the role of Acting President. Sandra has extensive experience with WRI operations, including shelter work, home care, board service, training, fundraising and publicity. Thanks to our seasoned core of volunteers, the shelter has been operating efficiently while the board works to get reorganized.
Due to the efforts of Susie Brain, WRI Clinical Adviser, we are fortunate to have a new Volunteer Coordinator, Benedicte Last, as well as two summer Animal Care Coordinators, Kathy Tyson and Becky Duerr. They have been instrumental in managing our operations, which run 12 hours every day. Kathy and Becky will return to school this fall, so we are looking for a permanent Animal Care Coordinator to replace them by August.
The Board wishes to thank all of Wildlife Rescue's staff and volunteers for the dedication and hard work they do for a common care and concern: to help the wild animals that share our space.
