2007 Volunteer Appreciation Party
On Friday, February 9th we honored and thank our dedicated volunteers by hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Party at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto.
Without our dedicated volunteers, Wildlife Rescue, Inc. (WRI) would not exist. The Clinic and Junior volunteers come in daily to care for the animals in our clinic. Home Care volunteers complete the rehabilitation process by releasing our animal patients back into the wild. The Wildlife Education Team educates the community with their wildlife presentations. Reception volunteers answer phone calls about living with wildlife. Transport volunteers transfer animals to other rehab organizations when necessary. Without all their hard work we would not have been able to care for the nearly 1800 animals we took in this past year.
The hard part comes when you realize that there is no adequate way to say thank you either to them individually or collectively as a group. All the time and effort that they give to WRI is truly appreciated. Their dedication and passion show in everything they do and we are all deeply grateful for the compassion and care they give the animals.
This year's volunteer appreciation gift was a deck of Local Birds playing card featuring a different local backyard or trail bird on each card. It is great fun for volunteers of all ages!
One of the highlights of the evening was a wonderful lecture by Steve Karlin of Wildlife Associates. He truly inspired the volunteers in attendance with his wildlife stories, personal recollections and caring manner.
We would also like to recognize the following organizations for donating food and beverages to our event: Safeway of Mountain View and Palo Alto, Trader Joe's of Menlo Park, and Whole Foods of Palo Alto and Redwood City.
